Kate Bruce, 18 years old.
Kate passed away from an asthma attack.
Kate always had the ability to speak to everyone and her smile was infectious.
Since the days of kindergarten Kate has been a rebel looking for a cause. She took it upon herself to stand up for those who could not defend themselves. Kate was taught from an early age to stand up for her beliefs and she did this no matter what the consequences. This often resulted in me and her dad visiting the principle’s office. On occasion this even resulted in Kate being suspended from school.
Kate loved to dance and sing, gathering friends around for a drink and a dance was one of Kate’s favourite things to do.
Kate left our home to be with the man she had chosen to be with Keyan. Kate was so happy to have her own place and again reveled in the fact she was being independent. In her 1st year of a counseling course at University something that she had always had a knack for Kate was enjoying life. Being able to visit the rest of the family in Melbourne and being with Keyan.
Kate was always happy to discuss anything with anyone, but she didn’t always give you the answers you wanted. You could always count on it being the truth though.
Kate was a loyal friend and someone who could be depended on. As a daughter Kate provided me and her dad with laughs, a few tears and many a heated discussion. But when all was said and done she managed to guide us through parenthood. She taught us she could stand on her own 2 feet, but she also knew that we were only a phone call away even if she just wanted to talk and she did like to talk.
Craig, Joanne, Chris and Jimmy will miss Kate more than anyone of us will ever know, everyone who knew her and loved her will also miss her, but we can all give thanks for Kate’s courage and her ability to be herself and to stand up for what she believed.
Rest peacefully in PAPA BEARS arms
